Teacher Tip Tuesday

Just stopping by to share a quick tip :)

Do you HATE how the dry erase marker residue builds up? And then, you have to use that horrible (and toxic) dry erase spray?

The answers to your problems?

Seriously! As if Magic Erasers weren’t already magical enough! I have been using the same eraser for the entire year and have only cleaned my board with spray once! It cleans the board beautifully and there is barely any residue left.

And another tip. Take an eraser and cut it into 4 pieces (or however many you want) and give to students to use on their personal white boards.  WAAAYYYY better than the pom pom glued to the cap (the kids play with them, they fall off, you have to re-burn your finger tips off re-glue them when someone needs a new marker).

So, hopefully this tip is helpful to those of you who may live under a rock like me (I just discovered this tip myself last year)

Tuesday’s Thoughts (or Ramblings)

1. It is freezing! Seriously, the high today was 51* and I seriously don’t think we hit that! It was VERY difficult to get out of that warm cozy bed (especially after 3 days off)

2. This weekend we tried out this Pioneer Woman recipe. Definitely not on the diet, but it was definitely delicious. And my photos definitely don't look like the Pioneer's.

3. P has begun the love affair with Mickey and asks to watch it, on the couch, with a blanket, and a bottle, and mommy. I am loving every.single.second.

4. I ran to Target over the weekend to get diapers. Seriously. I had a list and everything. I was going to stick to the list.

Darn you, Target. Every.Single.Time

So all these goodies would be to start decorating for NEXT year’s classroom. I am ready for change and have the most amazing scheme in my head. Hopefully it will turn out the way I am envisioning.

5. I worked on this Main Idea Pack I started almost exactly one year ago. P got horribly sick with a stomach bug, that I then got….and well it was derailed from there. I am excited to cross it off the list finish it up and use it in the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed it will be posted tonight and I will be back tomorrow to give you a closer look at it.

6. Speaking of…. This week I will be teaching main idea ;) with MLK Jr. using some of these fun ideas/ craftivities.

This amazing Flip-Flap-Book from Simply Skilled in Second.
Seriously, they are creative and make students think!

We will be making this adorable freebie from
Teaching in High Heels to go with our writing piece.
Then we are onto SNOW (and P.I.E)! And I CANNOT WAIT to engage my students in some exciting ways/things I have planned.

Thanks for stopping by and listening to the ramblings. Make sure you become a follower here and on Instagram (where posts are much more frequent).

One Word

Last year my school was a “One Word” school. At the beginning of the year we sat in our professional development (wishing we were in our classrooms) learning about this book

I was very skeptical about this PD and thought is was another typical PD that was a waste of time.

I also wasn’t sure what I wanted my word to be. I was trying to unplug. I was trying to open my heart. But it was the week before school started!

I was on a deadline. I had an assignment. I blindly chose the word Shine.

However, oddly enough, just like the book says, once you choose your word you start seeing it (or signs of it everywhere). On my Coke can. In a song. I seemed to get signs everywhere that hinted my word was the correct one to choose.

This word gave me focus and drive throughout the year without me knowing.

Until now.

As with every New Year approaching we all start thinking about our resolutions. I started doing some sole searching because let’s face it,

2015 sucked.

I was reflecting on the year that had gone by and how I wanted things to change for the year. During this process I realized I didn’t have my One Word. It’s silly to think of the power behind One Word, but it truly is bigger, stronger, and more powerful than any other silly resolution that I’ve ever tried making and failing at.

So, I sat down. Reread the book. And opened my heart.

My word for 2016

CONTROL

And that one little word has already given me power. I’ve seen it pop up in things around me. Whispering me encouragement. Letting me know I have chosen correctly.

I highly urge you to read the book and choose your One Word. I promise it won’t let you down!

2016 is going to be amazing!
